The fact that bor is a useful nutrient for plants has been recently agreed upon. Deficiency of bor leads to the disease of "exile" in tobacco, inner decay in sugar beet, seed house in apple, brown decay in broceoli, brown decays in potato and celeriac and cracked body in celeriac. The plants which are most sensitive to the deficiency of bor are sugar beet and other beets, celeriac, spinach, broceloi, cabbage, lettuce, Brussels cabbage and leek. Deficiency of bor slows down the plant growth and makes the leaves and branches fragile. Formation of flower and fruit also slows down and the productivity decreases.
Excessive amount of bor leads to poisoning. The normal amount of bor that should exist in the soil is 0.003 -0.008 %. When it is less than 0.003%, it is accepted as deficiency of bor and when it is over 0.008%, it is accepted as bor poisoning. For this reason attention should be paid in case that bor is to be used as fertilizer. In some parts of our country, problems pertaining to bor poisoning are observed due to the fact that there is excessive amount of bor in the irrigation water.
The plants that are most sensitive to bor poisoning are peach, grapewine, fig and beans. Burns form in bor poisoning and older leaves fall down at an earlier time.
Humic acid prevents bor poisoning. Humic acid prevents the plant receive bor at an amount that is not more than it actually needs. For this reason, two products were developed to be used for bor deficiency and bor poisoning. DELTA HUMUS can be used in order to prevent bor poisoning. DELTA ORGANIC BOR was developed to eradicate this deficiency.
